«The first release was in 2011, based on the 2007 vintage. Dosage 6-7 g/l and based on 2009 with a small proportion of reserve wines. Experiments on this style took almost 10 years. Initially they used Cadus casks but no longer; now it’s Seguin Moreau mainly, with others. They are also buying new 500-litre demi muids from Stockinger too, through Velich etc. 20-25,000 bottles maximum. One third of each variety. Very tight for a 2009! A little sweetness on the nose. And some real grip and greenness on the palate. Quite long. Tastes as though there were no malolactic (and indeed it is blocked because the oak soaks up acid anyway).»
